YOUTH Suburb Inspiration
Often in the pages of Suburb News, residents have expressed how inspiring the Suburb is to them. In this
section we specifically hear from the young on the way the Suburb has inspired them, and how they have been
influenced by its history, nature or culture – and how delicate and vunerable these things are. So easily lost.
In this edition we welcome a new team from The Henrietta
Barnett School and receive our last articles from the 2022 My Edith How-Martyn Project
team at Archer Academy. All of the new youth journalists

She was an early member of the Womenʼs Social and Political Union (WSPU) in 1905. The following year
she was appointed joint secretary of the WSPU with Charlotte Despard. In 1906 she was arrested in the
lobby of the House of Commons for trying to give a speech. This was one of the first acts of suffragette
militancy and she was one of the first WSPU members to go to jail. She was in prison for two months.
