Welcome to the first HGS REACH newsletter in our new format.
Every month, we will update you on what is happening in HGS on climate change issues. And we'll also provide some interesting articles that have caught our eye during the last few weeks. We'd love to hear your feedback. Tell us what you think at reach@hgsra.uk
Our IR camera scheme is now live for the winter
Our article in the December issue of Suburb News explains this scheme and how it can help you make your house warmer, reduce energy bills, and reduce CO2 emissions.
Trojan installation on Hampstead Way
Drive electric!
Thank you to those who filled out our car-buying survey. Some told us that a lack of local charging stopped them from buying an electric car.
Well, Barnet heard you! The first set of Trojan EV chargers has been put in Hampstead Way (see picture), and four more will be installed over the coming weeks. Each can charge up to 15 cars — but distribution of the special charging wands needed will be controlled; only local residents will be able to use these special charging stations.
We're planning a series of electric car events in the New Year, including a talk and HGS' first EV Car Show, with local EV owners chatting about the pros and cons of their choice.
Open days
We are organizing a series of Open House events so HGS RA members can tour other homes to see various energy efficiency measures in action.
The first is provisionally timetabled for January 14.
We hope to offer tours of houses with advanced internal insulation, heat pumps, secondary glazing, and more. Places will be very limited and open only to RA members. We also ask that everyone on a tour makes a £10 donation to Food Bank Aid.

Heat pumps
Another couple of local residents got heat pumps installed in the last few weeks. These devices are the most significant step any family can take to cut their CO2 emissions. Contact us at reach@hgsra.uk if you’re interested in joining the revolution.
